O'Meara Music

I focus on arranging intermediate performance level duets or trios for gigging, recital or church harpists. This includes writing for harp duets, large ensembles using Multi-level pieces, and harps in duets or trios with 13 different other instruments. I strive to make the pieces musically interesting. Other than a couple arrangements, the harp is not just accompanying the melody. These are truly duets with interaction between each instrument. Each part supports the other and as much as possible, each musician has equal amounts of the melody. 

I think as a harpist. I listen to how my various harps articulate. They differ by whether they are pedal or lever plus quality of the strings and wood. I listen for how long strings vibrate, trying to not replace on an actively vibrating string which creates buzzes. I strive to use the full range of the instruments while incorporating my favorite low notes. I utilize various rhythms to add energy or motion.  I like interesting counter melodies, sound effects and internal lines. I add tempo and dynamics to aid the musicians in making the music musical!
